Shahabuddin sahab, crime was common in Siwan. In fact, it was at its peak. At that time the definition of crime was different but after the arrival of Shahabuddin sahab, the poor people of Siwan were very happy. The poor started seeing their messiah in late Shahabuddin sahab. The poor and oppressed people troubled by the oppression of the landlords stood in support of Shahabuddin sahab. Shahabuddin sahab set up his own court to get justice for the poor, due to which the poor started getting justice immediately.
Late Muhammad Shahabuddin sahab raised his voice against dowry in Siwan and also announced to reduce the fees of doctors to facilitate the treatment of poor people. This created a wave of happiness among the poor, but some doctors expressed their displeasure against this announcement of Shahabuddin and started a campaign against Shahabuddin.
He became an MLA for the first time in 1990 and took forward the development work of the people, being in the Janata Dal, after the victory his stature in the party also increased. Seeing the growing stature of Shahabuddin sahab in Siwan, he reached the assembly again after winning the election in 1995, he was fielded for the Lok Sabha elections in 1996 and he waved the flag of victory in the Lok Sabha elections as well.
He was the MP of Siwan from 1996 to 2009, during which 4 elections were held and he won all the four elections.
While Shahabuddin was the MP in Siwan, golden development works were done. Many works were done in the field of education, roads and electricity. Due to helping the backward, poor and exploited, even Lalu ji started respecting Shahabuddin sahab image was more of helping people.
No criminal is ever the representative of the public, rather the one whom the public sacrifices is the true strongman and the public used to make this strongman their representative whose name was Muhammad Shahabuddin.
